Tomb of Hafez
Hafezieh is a name of memorial structure that is situated in the south of Quran Gate in Shiraz . This name is in memory of the celebrated Persian poet Hafez . The hall is related to Karim Khan Zand period and its architectur is gotten from Achaemendi and Zand era . The first dome on his grave was erected in 1452 BC , about 65 years after his death by Mohammad Yaghmaei who was the minister of Fars governer . In front of the tomb a pool was built that was filled with a qanat called Rokn Abad .
This monument was reconstructed at the time of Shah-Abbas I and also at the time of Nader-Shah . It was again reconstructed at the time of Karim Khan Zand and a marble slab was placed over the grave . The marble was engraved by a calligrapher called Afshar Azarbayejani with excerpts from Hafez poetry . The Hafezieh consisted of four center columns , with two rooms . At Qajar period it was reconstructed again . The present structure is designed by Andre Godard , a French archeologist and architect by help of Ali Asghar Hekmat , the minister of Education , and Ali Sami .
